Tribute to Linda Paterson, 1943 – 2017, upon her passing.
It is with great sadness to pass along to you that Linda Patterson, one of our long-time jewellers at Ambleside died yesterday from complications associated with her cancer.
She was born May 11th, 1943 in Devon, UK and Died October 22nd, in North Vancouver.
Linda’s great smile and sense of humour will be missed by all her friends at Ambleside Farmers’ Market where she has been a vendor since the market opened in 2005 until earlier this season.
She died on Sunday in Lions Gate Hospital with her two daughters and son by her side.
A Celebration of Life will be arranged in the spring and we will add that information to this blog post.
Linda was the vendor who asked that the three stall fee’s owing back to her when she had to quit during the season be donated to our fund for helping children.
Linda had been a vendor in Ambleside since 2005 and was in what we called kindergarten corner, this was comprised of Doug Lowe Greendale Herb and Vine, Mary Forstbauer and myself for Forstbauer Farms, Keith Hawkings from Simply Delish and Rick Gosse from Greendale Meats joined in later in the years. We made the market so much fun at our end, it was not uncommon to see Mary Forstbauer and Linda Patterson dancing together when a tune was played by the musician that inspired them. There was always lots of laughter and customers gravitated to our end of the market.
Linda’s attitude towards the end at the markets was, “why would I waste what little time I may have been miserable, and she smiled and laughed through her last days selling”.
